Master! I am in love..with you.

Bodhidharma's name stands out amongst all the Buddhist enlightened people second only to Guatam Buddha.  I met this man when I was about 18.  I fell deeply in love.  He stays in my heart at every moment.  I love him so deeply, I fall into silence just to hear his name.   He is my hero.  "I will stand by you forever.  .....my hero."

I had wished to share a little about the man and in the below blog,"The Practice You Cultivate Doesn't Exist Apart from Your Mind" some about his teaching.

Enrique Iglesias- Hero (with lyrics)

Bodhidharma was born fourteen centuries ago as a son of a king in the south of India.  He was born into a big empire, the empire of Pallavas.  He was the third son of his father, and a man of great intelligence.  He was not against the world, but he was not ready to waste his time in mundane affairs. He renounced the kingdom.  His whole concern was to know his self-nature, because without knowing it you have to accept death as the end.

His father was hoping he would be the successor to his empire.  And at that time times were quite beautiful in the east.  But Bodhidharma renounced the kindgdom saying to his father, "If you cannot save me from death, then please don't prevent me.  Let me go in search of something that is beyond death."  The father thought for a moment and he said, "I will not prevent you, because I cannot prevent your death.  You go on your search with all my blessings. It is sad for me but that is my problem; it is my attachment."

Bodhidharma was a follower of Gautam Buddha.  And even though Guatam Buddha was quite reluctant to initiate women, Bodhidharma believed strongly that women could become enlightened.  He was even initiated by an enlightened woman named Pragyatra.  It was she who ordered Bodhidharma to go to China.  Bodhidharma was courageous enough to be initiated by a woman on the path of Guatam Buddha.  There were other enlightened people, but he chose a woman for a certain purpose.  And the purpose was to show that a woman can be enlightened.  Not only that, her disciples can be enlightened.

Bodhidharma did not accept many disciples.  He was a very choosy man.   Of the two million Buddhist in China at that time, he accepted only four worthy to be accepted as his disciple.  And it is a matter of fact that upon entering China he sat looking at a wall for nine years!  Nine years facing a wall.  He made it a great meditation.  He would just simply go on looking at the wall.  He declared to the audience that would sit behind him "Unless somebody who deserves to be my disciple comes, I will not look at the audience."

So people used to come and sit behind him, not knowing what to do.  Yet Bodhidharma would not turn to face them.  He said, "The audience hurts me more, because it is just like wall.  Nobody understands, and to look at human beings in such an ignorant state hurts deeply.  But to look at the wall, there is no question; a wall, after all is a wall.  It cannot hear, so there is no need to be hurt.  I will turn to face the audience only if somebody proves by his actions that he is ready to be my disciple."

Nine years passed.  People could not find what to do, what action would satisfy him. They could not figure it out.  Then came this young man, Hui Ko. He cut off one of his hands with a sword, and threw the hand before Bodhidharma and said, "This is the beginning. Either you turn, or my head will be falling before you.  I am going to cut my head too."

Bodhidharma turned and said, "You are really a man worthy of me. No need to cut the head, we have to use it." This man, Hui Ko, was his first disciple.

One day when he intended to leave China he called his four disciples to question them and decide which one would be his successor.  After questioning them he chose Hui Ko as his successor.  But in the night Bodhidharma was poisoned by some disciple as a revenge, because he had not been chosen as the successor. So they buried him.  And after three years a governmental official came upon Bodhidharma barefoot walking out of China towards the Himalayas with his staff in his hand and one of his sandals hanging from the staff.  The official had known him, and loved him deeply.  He asked, "What is the meaning of this staff, and one sandal hanging from it?"  Bodhidharma said, "Soon you will know.  If you meet my people just tell them that I'm going into the Himalayas forever."

The official reached the monastery where his people resided.  And there he heard that Bodhidharma had been poisoned and he had died.  And the tomb was there.  He said, "My God, but I have seen him, and I cannot be deceived because I have seen him many times. He was the same man, those ferocious eyes, that same fiery and wild look, and on top of that, he was carrying on his staff one sandal."

The disciples opened the tomb.  And all they could find there was only one sandal.  Then the official knew the meaning of the words, "You will find out the meaning of it; soon you will know."

We have heard about Jesus' resurrection, but not much is said about the resurrection of Bodhidharma.  There is no other knowledge of him after his departure to the Himalayas.  He must be buried in the eternal snows of the Himalayas somewhere.

"Am I in too deep?  Have I lost my mind?".....

"And would you save my soul tonight?"....

Interesting and enlightening .  .  .
The resurrection theme was prominent through spiritual traditions for eons .  .  .  It seems to have been most revered in Christianity, but it's only one example .  .  .  There are others, as you've pointed out .  .  .

Hi  P and L!

I am intrigued with the Bodhidharma.  He like Gautam Buddha was a prince…he renounced the kingdom, he was courageous to be initiated by a woman (!), and the story of his resurrection…yet he seems still such a mystery.  He took the whole of Buddha's work and distilled it down to direct realization, pure practice.

Practice is calling my soul, Snake…..I cannot stop hearing his words.  I believe them with all my heart.

silence……thank you, P and L!!!

Love,
Che

Okay, you have thrown me for a real loop here…

The singular shoe…

On my 10,000 mile journey I kept coming across 'one shoe' at significant places of 'rebirth.'  But only one shoe.  After visiting a place of a past death, I visited a river of that life's birth, and found a sandal washed up beside the waters.

Then at two or three more places, discovering the peace at the Ocean, in the desert at the site of my original vision, and in the Valley of the Shadow of Death, where I released so much and then experienced an 'Infinity Moment' with Archangel Michael.

On my way home from my latest journey, three days ago, I passed a shoe on the side of the road.  Hmm, I thought, another shoe.  Then, a mile down the road, I saw the other shoe.

The little boy was back, but those were a man's shoes.

And the message in the Sunset for days had been, 'Walk.'

Rebirth.

Resurrection.

Res-erection.

I turned, when I finally reached the desert on my 10,000 mile journey, not to find the what I saw in my first vision eight years before, but a giant rock formation plunging into the Sky.  It was in the shape of an erect penis.

So life came back to me, the life of the Earth Spoke, and I kept walking, with only one shoe, until the Sky Spoke in its pink, gold and gray light in the blue sky and clouds, 'Become.'

And the second shoe was Given back.  'Walk.'  The heart is Given back.  The Heart is reborn.

One shoe had been left in the grave.  When the Heart came back into the life, the grave became empty, and true life thrust forth demanding to create new life, new meaning, beautiful meaning, from the death.

'Walk,' and let the beautiful meaning form with you.  Transform together.  But you must walk, after cutting off one's hand, the connection to slavery from the head, allowing the Heart to speak, touching the Earth through one's feet, the energy re-connecting, as life begins once more…

And why did I land at this old blog of your's, when I merely clicked on your journal, expecting yesterday's feast once again…?

Blessings, great teacher

Gray Owl, you have given such a beautiful description of the shoe, the heart and the resurrrection.  Thank you!

I do feel people struggle greatly because as they drop mind, open their hearts, their sexuality can become overwhelming.  But what is not so popularly known is that a Great Master will be the most sexual being alive, his whole energy will be throbbing with sexuality…only his or her sexuality will be absolutely non-exploiting.  Their bliss is so great, they do not need to exploit another…their awareness so acute, they know the other as themselves, and deep love is expressed naturally.

We are so attached to the 'mind' being US…that we throw off our blissfulness whenever we have managed by some means to relax the mind and allow the heart.  It's like we rush to throw the extra-ordinary bliss off us so we can feel 'natural..right' again.

We have to suffer our bliss in some way to gain perfect freedom and mastery.  So I am not surprised at all at your journey and mastery…how clear your vision and insights are.  The strength of your sexuality and opening heart!

The head, as far as I can see, is the most useless tool.  The brain is not the only psychic center.  There is also the heart, solar plexus and hara!  Much quicker and deeper as you go down! (big smile!)

Thank you again, Gray Owl, for sharing!  I actually had tears in my eyes when I read your post.  You're a very passionate man and gifted with spirituality!

Blessing to you Great Teacher!
Love,
Cheyenne

I would sit silent at your feet just to hear what you would share…just to hear what you know, just to be close to what I love!….

I am insane, Chi!  I am insane with love, with passion for all that the masters share!  My heart breaks everyday!  My soul aches like a wound ever opening!  And you come and tell me, I have sat with love…I have traveled and heard love!  Sweet!  So very sweet!

Your accent only adds to the beauty!

And sexuality - you are so right.  What can it be called?  I call is Shiva!  I call it Death!  I call it My God!  I tremble just to write this…to beg the divine to take me totally and leave nothing!  Promise to leave nothing!  Nothing untouched by You!

Oh, Chi!  Again, it is good to meet you!  As Ram Prem has shared his love for you and your work!

This is a declaration of love to you my beloved sister, we are walking in the
same edge and kiss by the same angels, I admire you intelligence and capacity to embrace all. You are fire and joy and to read you, is like
drinking the best wine in the world.

When I read you I can drink you vitality and make me smile.
much love to you and thank you.

I was so far a sleep, that I have to seat with the Master because it was
the only hope for me. Since a child I cry with a question Who am I? y want
to go to that place where everything is still and at the same time the spon-
taniety of the firts movement it happen. I cry so much. That existence felt
sorry for me and took me to my Beloved Master Osho and because I need it

Chaitanyo!  You call me Beloved Sister and that makes me cry too!  We are some couple!   And, Oh, Chi, I must tell you, I am not at all intelligent!  I am dumb as a rock!  I gave my intelligence up and allowed all the Masters to fill me with their wisdom.

If only I was intelligent I would not do all the dumb things I do!!!  It seems I seek what is stupid to join with it! It is such a joy just to experience and feel all I can!

Oh, I nudge your tears with my nose, and invite you to dance naked in the sunlight with me!  Freedom and Love!  And I hope for a promise that you will tell me all your stories, your experiences.

What a sensitive soul that since you were young, your heart cried, no relief for the separation from truth.  It is insane, because there is no way to end life, to become enlightened, only to live the love you speak of, over and over, day after day!  Till all questions are silenced in love.  As the Bodhidharma says, “All your problems come from your questions.”

Not to live life as a problem…and for me personally, not to be afraid of death.  You asked the most beautiful question 'who am i?'…and I simply tremble knowing one day my body will be taken and I will be engulfed in darkness without a guide!….this is what brought me to practice.  I am such an impatient person, I felt like, well, fine…this is such a rude thing to do to a person.  I will beat you to the punch!  I will die before I die…awake!  Fully Conscious!….

I will not disturb your silence any longer…but, Chi, I give you one more hug and the most sincere love from my heart to yours!

Much love!
