Man's Potential Is To Go Beyond Himself
In the West, we have inquired into every possible way to free ourselves from anxiety. And the more we search there appears to be no way out. No visible way. Not that a way does not exist. The way does exist.
Here in the West, man is now very educated on being in the now. Man is lodged into the moment. And this movement has been beneficial. Nothing happens accidentally in the universe. Even when a flower blossoms, there is a long chain of reasons behind it. And that the West has been taken by the power of now has a universal significance.
Yet this revelation cannot be taken as the path. We must not become victims to any guru who labels his or her inquires and questions as answers and assumes his ignorance is wisdom.
The purpose of man is to continually reach beyond himself. Man's potential is to go beyond himself. If we look at man from the animal side, then he appears to have evolved. And if we look at him from the godly side, he appears to be diseased.
Nietzche says, "Unfortunate will be the day when man gives up his desires to go beyond himself. Unfortunate will be the day when the arrow that takes man beyond man will not be drawn on this bow. Unfortunate will be the day when man will be satisfied with just being a man."
Man is not the resting place. He must transcend himself. We must not take the 'now' as our ultimate goal, but our own transcendence of the intense anxiety and inner despair.
The fact of our growth is it is only when you fall into a state of intense despair does a path begin to appear. Your very efforts to search for the light in this dense, deep darkness is the growth.
The path is not laid out clear for anyone. Each person's path is unknown, without a map. It is unchartered, one has to discover it and walk. One has to create the path by walking it. And there are all the mistakes and errors, and every possibility of going astray on the path. But it is those who walk, those who go astray, who become lost, who fall down, suffer and go through pain - at times intense pain - that reach.
And it is in this pain, in this reaching that it becomes clear whether or not the desire for light is connected with profound courage, an intense aspiration and a tremendous determination or whether one is going to become adjusted.
It is in intense crisis that one becomes eager for integration. It is your courage, intensity and determination that will determine your growth. It will not be the marvelous truths of the Gita, the Bible, Koran, the Tao Te Ching, the Power of Now that will transcend you. It will be your courage, intensity and determination to find light.
Your very life is the preparation to take you beyond. Its every step is a preparation for encountering supreme truth.
And a person who is unable to gather the strength and courage to encounter their life will seek two option: to entirely escape or become adjusted to the crisis. And the latter, to me, is far more dangerous. We go on adjusting ourselves up to the last moment, until death is knocking at our door. We reconcile ourselves and no revolution takes place.
Don't go on adjusting yourselves. It is the one who struggles and goes through the fire and heat of this world and comes out with total understanding, transcendence, that is utterly worthy to be called "Spiritual Master."

Yes, yes, yes!
Cheyenne, these ordeals are the true way to light and life. And only this readiness and commitement you describe in each word creates a space for playful exploration too. Play in the highest way of understandings cracking the deepest codes and hacking conditional reality.
And thus setting free the evolutionary force and eros . Ken Wilber has described something in his journals ONETASTE from June 1997. Check :
this excerpt from ONE TASTE
You commented on Marc Gafnis “Way of the great Dragon.” Its simply true in a very powerful sense.
The layers of Makyo, of deeply embedded collective karma and the density of strata of consciousness in collective evolution in history are so mighty that only nearly criminal intent is enough for overcoming as Nietzsche and Goethe said. The Ra as Marc Gafni puts it in Hebrew is really a companion for the whole life. Its not a temporary challenge to be mastered by therapy, some shadow work, experiencing or meditation. Its not even disappearing afteer the night of the soul and senses.
Recently Andrew Cohen posted “Evolutionary Enlightenment 101.” Lots of truth there too. As every higher we is at the same time a deeper We and putting together outer and inner worlds a challenge of its own.
I feel this profound determination and intensity in all your words, pictures and presence.
Thank you for sharing this! Blessings and joy,
Albert
O, Albert, I like very much that you opened immediately to play!
It is very difficult for one that is not meditative to play. People are quite serious! All striving to be the Superior Man! (I have heard there's a book called the Way of the Superior Man)..I have not read it. How can we play and enjoy when we yet are not the Superior Man? We are inferior. Oh, simply be yourself. There exists no one like you, no one whom can even compare. You're home. All you need to do is be watchful, and nothing affects you. This unaffectedness keeps your purity, freshness of life and joy of existence.
I even think my silliness, playfulness even in deep crisis causes some people not to trust me! They think I am insane. Didn't that hurt?, they ask. Oh, certainly, (big tears falling) the knife just sunk deep into my soul, into my heart! wow! But it was suppose to. I have read already the script. It was here that he was to stab me! Oh, how sweet, how joyful that I feel.
Being mediative you witness everything. A big inner smile never leave your soul…watching the play, the feelings, the emotions…knowing you feel happiness, then sadness, despair and delight…wow! I am alive. Watching, watching, watching.
And I think it is a little evil to say, but life is funny. Everyone is slipping on bananna peels. Everyone falling because of this and falling because of that. If you are silent, you will be happy, you can see the comedy, playful. Just watch it all.
You appreciate sweetness only if you have tasted bitterness. Yes, Albert! to all your words! One who has not cried, howled with their very bones, cannot laugh.
And personally, Albert, I have been killed. There have been events in my life that I can honestly say, 'it killed me.' and if you can survive the death, you become immortal. Afterward nothing can kill you again. You are already dead. Now you feel, but you no longer fear the death. What death? I died a long time ago. What remains is the Lion's Roar! (Ra)!!! A power within takes over. The mind and it's feeling of “i” are no more. Only energy and its play. It's play in striving, and becoming, rising and falling.
The evolutionary force and eros (fanning myself) (big smile)…!
Albert, certainly you know how much I adore you! I take comfort somehow knowing you're here.
Love,
Cheyenne
The determination seems to be the foundation, not being satisfied with what we know can be sweeter, we press on for love, the experience, the transcendence. Nectar of the Gods.
Oh, hi Jeannie!
“The determination seems to be the foundation.” yes!
If anguish becomes a journey, it becomes the Nectar of the Gods, as you say.
Buddha and Mahavira both arrived at this point where either they commit suicide or they were transformed. Anguish is also a door!
Jeannie, I am some crazy. When something or someone has hurt me, injured my soul, I run and sit!!!! I see if the hit has injured me enough that my mind will break! The only regret I have when pain hits me, was that it didn't hit hard enough for my mind to break!……and then of course, daily praciticing to break my mind without trauma, hit. I admire the Zen masters, always have, because their awakening is often so graceful, beautiful…they prepare and awaken.
I suspect either way is the way for myself…either hit me in the head, or I shall dance into it. either way…just pray let it be that we see reality. The realization of the ultimate is the outcome of a highly intense and painstaking search in life. The divine exists…it cannot known by reading a book. But it can be known by sitting next to a flower…the peddles of a flower hold the secret that no book can reveal.
Thank you, Jeannie!
Love,
Cheyenne
Yes Cheyene, One time with Osho some one say to him. Please Osho I just
want to be humane please help me to be humane.
Osho answer, yo must thing that you have ask something very beautiful,
but look all this humanity that are in the world, do you see any humanity?,
No you have to become Super Humane, you want to be humane and continue your sleep, but is not possible you have to continue, you have to
become Super humane and them maybe you will be humane. You have to keep growing.
Is so beautiful. this is our anxiety, that we found difficult to embraces that
we are a continues movement and deep down we know that is no where to go, this is the great joke and to see it is bloody difficult but one thing
we can always do and is play like Cheyene say and maybe one day we hear,
see, feel, the joke. And AH!! only the sense of it is SUCH…..And the mind
want to hold it, because the mind wants always to help, but this joke you
can not hold.
Each time we reach to that place that we can no go with the mind, to me, what is happen is that the body, breath stop for a moment and them, a joy
and a smile, like Cheyene say very rightly never left you soul. Why the hell is like this, I don't know but I love it.
I feel that this going beyond is like making love, you don't go any-
where you are more and more here, relax, deeply and and like in a magic carpet something happen that you start moving beyond and to no where.
I don't know……
If we could be in a continues making love, maybe we will be in a continues
going beyond and the attachment that hold all, will start to appear in another light, we another understanding…….
I think that my mind is goingggg, big smile and love Chaitanyo
OH dear, anything can do, yesterday the look of a child, and yes pain is going to be there, to move beyond…….like darkness pain come and go and
like light joy is always there. I can see no that my mind is really going, I wonder if I should go or let it Rap..Nietzsche and Goethe, they new about
darkness of the soul. We don't need to go to them, if we are very honest
we no to about that, about the desesperacion that happen when we hit
places and we don't find a door. Dream or no dream it doesn't matter,
what you think it is, it is and you know what I found that by being total
in what it is, you move on.
Now I go beloveds, thank you, much love again …..C
O, Chaitanyo! big hug first! Every time you share your stories of times you spent with Masters, I feel I am sitting in the crowd next to you, sharing in what you give! What your ears have heard, what you tasted and felt. And yes, it is perfectly normal that enlightenment does not happen in this world. It is a miracle when someone awakens, a rare flower…just to be human is rare. Thank you dearly!
And going beyond is exactly like the most beautiful, intense sexual experience! Practice, to me, is like foreplay!!! When you are making love, you must do to a certain point…you must give of yourself, you work yourself and your lover up to a certain point and then the energy takes over. Now the energy is doing you and it is so unbelievably blissful. here if YOU don't stop doing, if you don't just allow, the orgasm will be missed. You get in the way. To a certain point you do something, then you allow the energy to carry you into bliss, into no-time, no-mind….the energy moves you…just the happening!
Practice is this, all foreplay to me. You are working yourself up to a certain point, then the energy takes over and you begin happening! No mind! Mind is so strong and so habitual, if you don't practice, if you don't do something, it is very unlikely the orgasm will happen (!)…..the moment time ceases and you are free for a moment of mind! To laugh at the joke of how it is always there. We go around begging life and people to give us something that is always present in us!!! It is my favorite Zen statement of a Zen Master upon realizing enlightenment, “What sort of a joke is this.” (!)…so wonderful!
And one can have deep transformations in pain! Very few people are able to muster such courage. People seek so much the peak, but they wish to avoid the valley. The peak is only has high as the valley is low! Pain has a certain beauty to me…it gives depth, it goes deep into us. Our pain runs much deeper than our bliss. If one stays present, as you speak of, a powerful transformation can happen. You become capable of bliss! The depth has been created in you to experience the peak!!! It is the constant avoiding the valley why people stay so shallow and unable to know blissful. The tears in people eyes have dried up and their hearts are empty of love. We have been taught to be unloving, we have been told to struggle. Pain is a gift to open up those tears and allow ourselves to feel.
And, O, Chaitanyo! I love seeing your mind go! You let it go, yes?
And I send you a big hug! And much love!
Cheyenne
